The Mystery of Mew?
Mew, the mother of Mewtwo, was found deep in the rainforest. It was captured and brought to Cinnabar Island. Here, Mew gave birth to another Pokemon - which was named Mewtwo. Mewtwo became to powerful too keep in captivity, and escaped. As we all know, Mewtwo can be found in the Unknown Dungeon, but what of Mew?
Mew is a legal Pokemon. In the Yellow Version manual, it says that Mew is not allowed in any of the Pokemon Cups, therefore stating that there is a Mew. In the Red and Blue Versions' databases, Mew is number 15 (see
R/B Complete Pokemon List)There are many theories about Mew. All seem to point to the area near gangway on the SS Anne. Here is a rough screenshot of the area AROUND the SS Anne.
There is only one way to reach the truck, which probably holds Mew. That is to surf. The catch is that the SS Anne leaves the port when you receive CUT from the captain, a long time before you can get SURF, and you can no longer reach this screen. After getting CUT, you must LOSE a battle against a passenger or crewmember (surprisingly easy). That way, you return to the last Pokemon Centre, and the SS Anne hasn't left. You must be careful, however, that you don't get back onto the ship, because if you ever leave the ship again, it will sail off.
